Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Hyatt Ziva is an all-inclusive resort set on a beautiful beach in Puerto Vallarta between two cliffs. Due to its location the beach is very private with very few street vendors. The resort has two towers: the main tower and the club tower. They refer to the club tower as their VIP tower. Guests in the club tower check in separately from the main tower guests, there is a bar in the club tower lobby that offers top shelf liquors and snacks throughout the day. Club level rooms also have a few extras in the rooms compared to the main tower, such as somewhat fancier snacks and liquor in the fridge, a newer coffee machine and generally larger rooms with all oceanview or oceanfront balconies. The difference between the oceanview and oceanfront rooms is mainly the floor you’re staying at. From floors 1-6, the view is considered oceanview and higher floors are considered oceanfront. Something to note, is that not all rooms in the main tower have a balcony.

The beach is white and soft, not a rock in sight and very clean. The pools are nice and clean, there are five pools of which two are adult pools, as well as a Jacuzzi. The entertainment team organized various activities in the main pool throughout the day and on some nights they had evening entertainment by the pool with a water show.

The resort has a kids club, which was closed during our visit due to covid, but the kids club team had plenty of entertainment for kids in the fresh air. They had face painting, arts and crafts, character appearances and much more.

The food was great, I cannot find fault with any of it. The buffet was not exactly self-serve and you had to ask the stuff to serve you whatever you wanted. We absolutely loved the Italian restaurant. While we were there, we also had a romantic dinner set up on the beach with a seafood menu, it was for an extra charge of around $100 but the views alone were worth every penny. They also had a day when they served barbeque and coconuts on the beach for lunch. Dining reservations are not required at any of the resort’s restaurants.

The resort is only a 5-minute drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta (taxi was about $5) and is a great choice if you plan to visit the town.
